<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate variations in output power generated upon an operation mode changeover as the result of a temperature change or individual variations in a transmission circuit which changes an operation mode between a linear operation mode and a non-linear operation mode in order to restrain the deterioration in transmission signal quality without increasing the scale of the circuit. <P>SOLUTION: A gain setting section 160 sets a gain of a variable gain amplifier 140 (target gain) to a value which allows the variable gain amplifier 140 to perform a linear operation according to a target level of the variable gain amplifier 140 based on a setting power level of a transmission signal and a result of comparing an output signal power level of the variable gain amplifier 140 detected by a power detection section 150 (output error level).
