<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect that a diffuser vane has a failure, and to specify a type thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A failure detecting device of an internal combustion engine with a supercharger, wherein the internal combustion engine includes the supercharger and the supercharger has a variable diffuser for changing an angle of the diffuser vane in a compressor part, includes a determiner for determining a failure state of the diffuser vane on the basis of a compressor efficiency when an intake air amount of the internal combustion engine is smaller than a first predetermined value and a compressor efficiency when the intake air amount of the internal combustion engine is larger than a second predetermined value which is larger than the first predetermined value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
