The machine has a supply path supplying bread loaves (2) and running under a certain angle in relation to a horizontal line, where the angle is predetermined by partition of stack planes (10) in a drum (9). A rotary knife (4) is supported by a pivotable rocker (6), which allows the knife to laterally engage at the loaves under right angle to the supply path. A holding-and stacking device holds and stacks sectioned bread slices (7) using a side piece (14) that is displaced at the time of cutting of the slices. The holding-and stacking device is adjusted under the predetermined angle.
