The method involves directing cleaning gas flow i.e. pressurized air, to a segment (10) of a filter cartridge (6). The cleaning gas flow and the filter cartridge are movable relative to each other along circumferential direction of the filter cartridge and along radial direction of the filter cartridge. The cleaning gas flow is guided from upper front end of the filter cartridge in a region of the segment. The segment of the filter cartridge is applied with the cleaning gas flow based on a cleaning cycle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a filter cartridge cleaning apparatus comprising a cleaning gas ejector device (2) a separator comprising an intake port and an exhaust opening.
