<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of preventing the originally high image brightness from causing halation when the image brightness projected on a liquid crystal screen is increased while reducing the amount of backlight to illuminate the liquid crystal screen. <P>SOLUTION: In an image displayed on the liquid crystal screen, the light amount of a plurality of light sources possessed by the backlight to illuminate the screen is reduced, and brightness of the whole image is made suitable by performing correction to increase the image brightness. When such a correction is performed, the image brightness is prevented from exceeding a first threshold. For this reason, a region whitened in the image is eliminated, and visibility of an observer in the image can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
