<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque control system of a gas turbine, and a method for gas turbine start-up. <P>SOLUTION: A method for gas turbine 105 start-up can include placing a static starter 135 in a torque control mode, sending a torque reference to the static starter 135 to establish a startup torque for the gas turbine 105, setting current set points for the static starter 135 and modulating a current output to achieve the startup torque.
