<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and an information processing method capable of generating a notice to a client who had downloaded a file that is detected to be infected with a virus. <P>SOLUTION: When the information processor received a request for transmitting a stored file from an external apparatus through the network, the information processor transmits the file as a requested file to the external apparatus and creates a first history information showing that the requested file was transmitted to the external apparatus. The information processor determines whether or not the file being stored has been infected with a virus. When the file has been infected with a virus, the information processor refers to the first history information, and identifies a transmission destination to which the information processor had transmitted the file determined to be infected as a request file.
