<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device that maintains its stable operation. <P>SOLUTION: In a system 100 constituted by a first CPU 101 and a second CPU 107, abnormality detection means that detects abnormality by mutual monitoring of the first CPU 101 and the second CPU 107 is provided. The abnormality detection means determines whether either the first CPU 101 or the second CPU 107 has abnormality, by generating check data values in the first CPU 101 and the second CPU 107 and comparing the check data values in a first comparison circuit 104 and a second comparison circuit 110. This mutual monitoring between CPUs allows abnormality detection when abnormality occurs on either of the first or second CPU or its connection parts, lowering a risk that abnormality detection of the CPUs may not be performed.
