PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform control in a host device connected to a recording device based on the state of a recording head provided in the recording device.

SOLUTION: A recording system 1 comprises a printer 3 equipped with a printing head 47 having a plurality of nozzles and a host computer 2 communicably connected to the printer 3, and the host computer 2 comprises an application execution part 201 and a printer driver execution part 210 for transferring a control command and data to the printer 3 based on the data output by the application execution part 201. The printer driver execution part 210 transfers a control command which informs the state of the nozzles of the printing head 47 depending on the request of the application execution part 201 to the printer 3. The recording system1 receives the information transferred by the printer 3 as a response to the control command and outputs the information to the application execution part 210.
