PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing a proper focus control while keeping visibility during imaging operation.

SOLUTION: An imaging part 310 generates a captured image by converting an incident light which is transmitted from a subject via a focus lens 221. A focus lens movement range definition part 340 defines a focus lens movement range according to an imaging magnification corresponding to a location of the focus lens 221. That is, the imaging magnification corresponding to the location of the focus lens 221 is used as a reference. And a range associated with the location of the focus lens 221 corresponding to the imaging magnification whose variation rate from the reference is within a certain range is defined as the focus lens movement range. A focus control part 350 performs a focus control by moving the focus lens 221 within the defined movement range. A display part 380 sequentially displays the generated captured image as a through-image.
