<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original plate of a relief printing plate for laser engraving which is excellent in rinsing engraving residue caused during laser engraving, a method for making a relief printing plate by using it, and a relief printing plate obtained by the manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The original plate of a relief printing plate for laser engraving contains: (Component A) a compound having hydrolyzable silyl group and/or silanol group ; and (Component B) a thermal crosslinking layer of resin compound for laser engraving, which contains less than 2%, including 0%, by mass of a binder polymer with respect to the total mass, as a crosslinking relief forming layer on the support body thereof. The method for making the relief printing plate includes a step to prepare the original plate of the relief printing plate for laser engraving and a step to form a relief layer by laser engraving the crosslinking relief layer.
