A cutter insert assembly (100) for a drill bit for boring into the earth, comprising a super-hard structure (110) clampable to a support body (120) by means of a clamp mechanism; the clamp mechanism (130) comprising opposed compression members (132, 134) connectable by a tension member (136) capable of sustaining a clamping force between the compression members (132, 134) when the cutter insert (100) assembly is in a clamped condition, in which condition the compression members (132, 134) exert opposing compressive forces on the super-hard structure (110) and the support body (120), operable to clamp the super-hard structure (110) to the support body (120), and in which condition the cutter insert assembly (100) is self-supporting and capable of being mounted onto a drill bit body.
