A method for requesting to obtain route information and corresponding route device thereof are disclosed in the present invention. The method includes the following steps: a request side extends a border gateway protocol (BGP) message, adds a route refresh filter (RFF) identifier and a refresh route filter (RRF) entry to the BGP message, then obtains the filtered route information, wherein the RFF denotes to request that a route provider side performs the filtration, according to the RRF, on all the route information in a route information set Adj-Rib-Out corresponding to the request side; the request side sends the extended BGP message to the route provider side, and requests to obtain the route information.
