<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus can improving stackability. <P>SOLUTION: A noncontact heater 18 is disposed downstream of the disposed position of a liquid droplet discharge head 16 in the conveyance direction of a recording medium. This noncontact heater 18 locally irradiates locally a boundary portion between the image forming portion and image non-forming portion of a recording medium 11 without being in contact to it with heat. The boundary portion between a portion highly likely to curl, the image forming portion and image non-forming portion is locally irradiated with heat, thereby evaporating the moisture of the image forming part, and hence eliminating the difference in moisture content between the image forming part and image non-forming part and removing a curl.
