<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate light emission irrelevant to gradation display by omitting forced initialization operation while reducing discharge delay and stably causing write operation. <P>SOLUTION: In a driving method of a plasma display panel, one field consists of multiple subfields which have a writing period, a maintaining period and an elimination period respectively. During the elimination period, only a discharge cell which has caused writing discharge during the previous writing period causes elimination discharge selectively. The multiple subfields have: first scan operation to apply a scan pulse only to odd-numbered electrodes sequentially in a direction from one scan electrode to the other scan electrode among multiple scan electrodes arranged during the writing period; and second scan operation to apply the scan pulse only to even-numbered electrodes sequentially in a direction from the other scan electrode to one scan electrode among the scan electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
