摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform formation of a subject image in high quality and high speed even when performing pixel addition, as well as AF operation in high performance. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: a solid state image sensor having a plurality of pixels arranged in a two-dimensional array manner on a semiconductor substrate; and pixel addition means performing drive control of the solid state image sensor, and adding detection signals of pixels located at every predetermined cyclic position out of the plurality of pixels. In the solid state image sensor, while a part of pixels out of the plurality of pixels are formed as phase difference detection pixels 1x and 1y, a plurality of sets of the phase difference detection pixels 1x and 1y are arranged at the predetermined cyclic positions.
