<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium negative electrode and/or a zinc negative electrode excellent in discharge characteristics, capable of discharging large current and capable of attaining sufficient discharge capacity. <P>SOLUTION: A negative electrode for a battery contains metal with, as a main component, magnesium or zinc in an aluminum porous body. The negative electrode for the battery has oxygen, whose amount is 3.1 wt.% or less, on its surface of aluminum forming a skeleton of the aluminum porous body. The negative electrode for the battery has the aluminum porous body which has continuous holes, does not have closed pores, and in addition, consists of only aluminum. A manufacturing method of the negative electrode for the battery includes: forming an aluminum layer on a surface of resin having continuous holes; then, in the state of immersing the resin in molten salt, holding a potential less than the standard electrode potential of aluminum, thermally decomposing the resin at a temperature equal to or lower than a melting point of aluminum to produce the aluminum porous body; and further, making it contain metal with, as a main component, magnesium or zinc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
