The present invention relates to an alignment system for detecting any misalignment between a first hollow axle of a first component and a second hollow axle of a second component, the first and second components having first and second ends, each end having an end face, the second end of the first component being connected with the first end of the second component, the axles having a centre axis, the system comprising a transmitter and receiver unit comprising a transmitter for emitting radiation and a receiver for receiving radiation and a reflector. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for detecting any misalignment between a first hollow axle of a first component and a second hollow axle of a second component.
