<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device, a display method, a display system, and a display program to facilitate operation in associating index information with display data. <P>SOLUTION: A display device 6 receives display data from providing devices 8 (a mobile phone 2, a digital camera 3, a PC 4, a scanner 5, and a display device 7) to display the display data on a display unit 16. The display device 6 obtains a communication method (USB, Bluetooth, WiFi) for receiving the display data from the providing devices 8, a format of the display data to be received, and ID of the providing devices 8, while communicating with the providing devices 8. The obtained information is associated with the display data and stored in a flash memory. A user inputs specific information of desired providing devices 8 to the display device 6 as a retrieval key.
