<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element having high short-circuit current density and photoelectric conversion efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and an active layer between the first electrode and the second electrode. The active layer contains a compound having a structural unit represented by formula (1).
