<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residual fuel display method and a residual fuel display device for updating the display of residual fuel even when large oscillation occurs on a liquid level in a tank, and for preventing the residual fuel from seeming to rapidly decrease for a user, and for preventing display from abnormally oscillating, and for normally displaying residual fuel without generating any feeling of incompatibility. <P>SOLUTION: When a current display level is equal to or more than half of the residue, and such upper oscillation that the top of a liquid level exceeds an upper limit value, and its bottom reaches a range between a current display level and a lower limit value occurs, the mean value of a value calculated by subtracting a liquid level which is less than the current display level among liquid face levels detected from the current display level is calculated, and when the mean value is larger than a fixed value, the display level is decreased by one.
