<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP composite optical filter having both of a contrast improving function and other optical functions which prevents occurrence of residual air bubbles caused from an adhesive layer while laminating a contrast improving layer and a functional layer, and prevents increase of total thickness, number of processes and cost, and decrease in productivity. <P>SOLUTION: A PDP composite optical filter 10 comprises a contrast improving layer 1, in which many dark strip portions 1a and transparent resin layers 1b are disposed in parallel to each other in an extending direction, and a functional layer 2. The dark strip portions 1a and the transparent resin layers 1b are overlapped with each other with an exposed surface 1e of the dark strip portion faced to the functional layer without being interposed by an adhesive layer, and on one facing surface of either one of the layers is formed with many minute projections 3 of a height H0.78-50 μm. An air layer exists among the minute projections. The air layer is particularly effective when the exposed surface of the dark strip portion has a concave shape. The PDP composite optical filter is disposed at the front side of a plasma display panel main body to constitute a plasma display panel.
