The medical instrument has a housing with an aperture (24), and a window construction part (40) comprising transparent material for closing the aperture. The window construction part comprises amorphous material. The housing comprises a thin-walled region (32) for surrounding the aperture. The thin-walled region includes a lip (36) with an edge that rests on an edge surface (42) of the window construction part. A solder connects a frame (34) around the aperture and firmly bonds the edge surface within the lip. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a medical instrument.
