The device (101) has a mouth piece (102) partially inserting into a mouth of a baby. A display element (111) is transferrable between saturated and hungry conditions by an actuating element (109) based on low pressure produced at the mouthpiece. The display element is connected with the actuating element in force-fit manner. A holding unit i.e. relay switch, holds the display element in the hungry-condition when the display element is in the hungry-condition and the low pressure decreases below a threshold low pressure. A spiral spring (117) pushes the actuating element into a rest position. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hunger display device.
