PURPOSE: A portable terminal and control method thereof are provided to offer a smart card web server function to a user by utilizing an identification apparatus. CONSTITUTION: An interface unit(170) connects a portable terminal with an identification apparatus which stores information in order to certify the permission of the portable terminal. A control unit(180) controls the interface unit in order to connect the portable terminal with the identification apparatus using a first interface method and a second interface method when the portable terminal is inserted into a specific mode using the first interface method. The specific mode is a sleep mode.
