A cleaning pad comprising a pouch 11 formed of a porous textile and filled with a highly folded or otherwise gathered netting (12, fig 3) of plastics material, the netting (12, fig 3) being enclosed within the pouch 11 such that, in use, a minor portion of a liquid detergent retained by the netting (12, fig 3) is excreted out through the porous textile when the pouch 12 is compressed. A strap 13 maybe attached at opposing sides of the pad, with the strap 13 being of adjustable length or forming a loop sufficiently large enough to pass around the end of the pad so that the handle 13 can be provided on either side of the pad. The porous material can be a microfiber material or a cloth formed of bamboo and the netting (12, fig 3) is preferably nylon. A pocket 14 may be provided and a portion of the pouch 11 may include a region of different material, such as rubber bristles.
