A technique comprises: forming a conductive element 2 for example, gold (Au) source and drain electrodes 3, 4 of an electronic device (which may be an organic thin film transistor, ( TFT)) on a portion of the surface of a first organic layer 1. A second organic layer may be deposited using flexographic printing over said conductive element and said first organic layer. Then at least one of the first and second organic layers are treated to increase the strength of adhesion between said first and second organic layers and thereby improve the retention of said conductive element on said first organic layer. Laser ablation may be used to pattern gate lines 9. The organic TFT may be used as part of an electrophoretic display device (30, Figure 3).
