<p>551,567. Barges. GORRINGE, H. M. Dec. 5, 1941; No. 15716. [Class 113 (ii)] Barges are constructed with a floor formed of cast reinforced concrete slabs 6 arranged in staggered form upon base frame members 4 of Z or other section. Wooden fillets 7 are arranged between the slabs and the sides 1 of the barge, and a concrete carpet 8 is cast over the slabs and the fillets and forms a key to hold the slabs securely. The carpet is bowed convexly, and is preferably reinforced. Metal drain tubes 9 extend through the fillets 7 and edges of the carpet 8, and collected liquid can be pumped out of tube 9. The slabs 6 are laid in staggered form.</p> |
