The invention relates to a method for providing an improved winding factor (k w1 ) of an 1-phase (A,B,C) permanent magnet machine (1) having concentrated windings. The permanent magnet machine (1) comprises a stator (4) having a plurality of stator teeth separated by a plurality of stator slots, and a rotor (2) provided with a plurality of permanent magnets constituting magnetic poles. The method comprises the steps of: choosing a slot/pole combination for the permanent magnet machine (1), providing a number of slots per pole per phase, and calculating a ratio k of an intermediate tooth span (¸ inter ) over a coil span (¸ coil ) based on the chosen number of slots per pole per phase, where the coil span (¸ coil ) comprises a coil span between coils of each respective phase, and the intermediate tooth span (¸ inter ) comprises a span between coils of two adjacent phases or between two consecutive winding sequences, the intermediate tooth span (¸ inter ) differing from the coil span (¸ coil ). The invention also relates to a corresponding permanent magnet machine (1). |
