PURPOSE: A roll assembly for heat treatment and a method for heat-treating roll are provided to reduce the possibility that the crack generates during a heat treatment process by using an inner layer material, an outer layer material and an insulating material. CONSTITUTION: A roll assembly for heat treatment and a method for heat-treating roll comprise next steps. The roll having the composite structure of an outer layer material(120) is prepared. The outer layer material has the abrasion resistance bigger than that of an inner layer material(110) is prepared The outer layer material and inner layer material are covered in order to be attached with an insulating material(130). The insulating material is fixed on the roll. The insulating material is surrounded with a fixing bend(140). The roll is heat-treated. The roll is heated to approximately 1050 °C. The roll is cooled in a cooling speed more than the natural cooling after the heating roll process. The roll is frozen again after being heated in the first heating process. The insulating material is eliminated from the roll. The insulating material comprises the ceramic fiber.
