PURPOSE: An electric bicycle is provided to improve driving efficiency because the power generated from pedal effort is used as a driving force or stored in a storage battery. CONSTITUTION: An electric bicycle comprises a generator(26), a storage battery, a power generation drive motor(20), a multi-stage drive gear(28), and a controller. The driving force for a pedal gear(29) generated from pedal effort on pedals(13) is transmitted to the generator through a pedal chain(27). The electricity generated by the generator is charged in the storage battery through a charger. The power generation drive motor is rotated with the electricity of the storage battery and connected through a drive chain(17) to a drive gear(19). The multi-stage drive gear is connected through a shift chain(30) to a multi-stage rear wheel gear(18). The controller includes an output circuit which transmits the electricity of the storage battery to the power generation drive motor according to a signal of an accelerator lever(23). When the output circuit is cut off, the electricity generated by the power generation drive motor is charged into the storage battery. |
