REGULATING SYSTEM FOR HYDROGEN ION CONCENTRATION IN BALLAST WATER AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An apparatus for adjusting the hydrogen ion concentration of ballast water and a method for the same are provided to suppress the generation of secondary environmental pollution by accurately adjusting the hydrogen ion concentration of the ballast water. CONSTITUTION: Ballast water introducing pipes(41, 42) introduce ballast water into a ballast water storing tank. A gaseous acid compound injecting valve(61) injects gaseous acid compounds such as the exhaust gas of vessel engine or the exhaust gas of a carbon dioxide generating unit into a ballast water treating tank(10). A liquid state acid compound injecting valve(62) injects volatile acid compound such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and acetic acid into the ballast water treating tank. Mixing pipes(21, 22) mix the gaseous acid compound injecting valve and the liquid state acid compound injecting valve in ballast water and in the pipes. Distributors(31, 32) uniformly distribute acidified ballast water in the ballast water treating tank.
