The method involves pre-heating an oil of a lubrication circuit (10) during driving an engine (20) with an electric starter (12) at a speed lower than a determined threshold speed. A starting condition is detected when an oil temperature in the lubrication circuit is greater than a determined temperature threshold. The engine with the electric starter is driven at a speed higher than the threshold speed. Frosting conditions are detected when the oil temperature in the lubrication circuit is lower than another temperature threshold. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a control device for starting an engine of an aircraft, comprising a pre-heating unit (2) an aircraft comprising a lubricating circuit.
