The backrest (1) has a retractable flat display screen (2) folded on a rear surface. A display surface (2a) of the screen is turned rearward to the backrest when the screen is retracted. A retracted panel is located between the rear surface and the screen. The panel and the screen are retracted in a recession (4) of the rear surface. The screen is articulated with respect to the backrest at the level of a top edge of the backrest, and the panel is articulated with respect to the backrest at the level of a lower edge of the backrest. An independent claim is also included for a seat comprising a base.
