OPTICAL SCANNER, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner able to improve drawing accuracy by suppressing random disturbance of scanning and adverse effect of noise contained in the output signal of a light beam detector.

SOLUTION: The optical scanner comprises: a light source 30; an optical scanning section 100; a driving section 51 for the optical scanning section; a light beam detecting section 40; reference signal generating means 60; a time difference detecting section 53; a control section 56; an image data storage section 71; and a light beam modulating section 72. The optical scanning section repeatedly scans a light beam on a medium in a first direction. The light beam detecting section detects a light beam to be scanned, and outputs a signal. The time difference detecting section detects a time difference between the output of the light beam detecting section and a reference signal. The control section controls the driving section so as to decrease the time difference. After detecting an image formation start instruction signal is detected, the light beam modulating section modulates a light beam by controlling the light source according to image data read from the image data storage section with a timing based on the reference signal.
