<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe product capable of preventing generation of smoke and fire from a capacitor element when extraordinary large current such as short-circuit current flows in a solid electrolytic capacitor. <P>SOLUTION: A solid electrolytic capacitor comprises: an anode body which is made of a valve action metal with an anode lead wire led out and has a porous surface; a water repellent layer 3 with a coating at a root portion of the wire; a dielectric layer formed on the surface of the anode body; a solid electrolyte layer 6 which is made of a electro conductive polymer and formed on the surface of the dielectric layer; and a graphite paste layer 7 and a silver paste layer 8 formed in this order on the surface of the solid electrolyte layer.
