A system for mounting a banner, for example an advertising banner, to an (outside) wall or an advertising column, comprising a stretching frame having a circumferential edge by means of which the advertising banner can be stretched, and frame mounting means for mounting the stretching frame to the (outside) wall or the advertising column, characterised in that the stretching frame is provided with banner fastening means extending parallel to the circumferential edge, which banner fastening means are spaced from the circumferential edge in rearward and inward direction therefrom, seen from the front.
