<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage type water heater which has enhanced water heating efficiency without making a user feel variation in hot water temperature with a simple water heating circuit. <P>SOLUTION: The storage type water heater includes a hot water storage tank 1 storing hot water, a heat pump unit 10 heating the hot water stored in the hot water storage tank 1, and a hot water passage ( heat pump returning piping 22, tank upper part piping 23, and a hot water supplying pipe 28) unifying hot water heated by the heat pump unit 10 and hot water in the hot water storage tank 1 so that hot water can be supplied to a prescribed hot water supply destination.
