<p>The invention relates to a sports helmet that includes a shell for covering a wearer's upper head region, a compressible collar configured and dimensioned for engaging the upper body of the wearer, and an impact absorbing shroud connecting the shell and collar. The helmet protects the wearer against head and neck injury by the absorption of impact forces by and compression of the shroud and collar while maintaining the helmet at a safe distance away from the wearer`s shoulders.</p> |
