<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a scribing wheel having an excellent catching to a glass surface while restraining a high penetration effect. <P>SOLUTION: The scribing wheel for a brittle material includes: an outer peripheral portion around which a circumference ridgeline is formed, where two truncated cones have connected bottoms so as to share the same rotational axis; and a plurality of alternating notches and protrusions which are formed in a circumferential direction along the circumference ridgeline, wherein the protrusions are formed of portions of the circumference ridgeline which remain after the circumference ridge line is notched and have a length in a circumferential direction. The method of manufacturing the scribing wheel for a brittle material includes a process of forming notches at a circumferential edge, where a shape viewed from an axial direction of the truncated cones is a V shape by application of laser beams.
