PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball which is able to substantially reduce the distance traveled by the ball when struck at a high HS (head speed), while at the same time dominantly getting a distance when struck at a low HS and on shots with an iron.
SOLUTION: The golf ball has a solid core and at least one layer of a cover, and a number of dimples are formed on the surface of the outermost layer of the cover. The volume occupancy rate (VR) of the dimples is 1.0-1.4%, and the initial velocity of the ball measured by an initial velocity measuring device of the same type as of a drum rotation-type initial velocity instrument of USGA is 75.5-77.7 m/s. A ratio of total distance traveled when struck at a head speed of 54 m/s to total distance traveled when struck at a head speed of 35 m/s (HS54/HS35) is 1.30 to 1.50.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
