<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rubber-reinforcing fibers which maintain high adhesion between the rubber and the fibers even after exposure to high temperatures. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing rubber-reinforcing fibers includes subjecting fibers to a first bath treatment with a pretreatment liquid containing a carboxyl modified polyvinyl chloride latex and then to a second bath treatment with an adhesion treatment liquid containing a resorcin-formalin-latex (RFL) based adhesive. The adhesion treatment liquid preferably contains a polyvinyl chloride latex. The carboxyl modified polyvinyl chloride latex in the pretreatment liquid preferably has a glass transition temperature in the range of 60-100°C. The polyvinyl chloride latex in the adhesion treatment liquid preferably has a glass transition temperature in the range of 0-50°C.
