<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to shorten a waiting time for the temperature drop of a fixing member, for example, when an image forming condition is switched, and also, minimize useless energy consumption. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming section to form an unfixed toner image to be transferred to a recording medium; a thermal fixing section including a fixing member which is heated or cooled to a fixation target temperature corresponding to the image forming condition set in the image forming section, and a pressure member. After a start-up control is finished, and when the image formation can be started, that is, when the image formation by the image forming section is executable in reply to image output demand, the thermal fixing section allows the image forming section to start the image formation, when the temperature of the fixing member is higher than a second fixation target temperature T2, and also, an image to be output is a line image, and when the temperature of the fixing member becomes equal to or lower than an image formation allowable temperature T3 obtained by adding a differential temperature ▵T<SB POS="POST">L</SB>larger than a value ▵T<SB POS="POST">H</SB>which is required in the case an image to be output is a photographic image, to the second fixation target temperature T2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
