Disclosed is a dental tool for obtaining correlation data that correlates an X-ray image with an optical image of tooth surfaces of a lower jaw and/or upper jaw in a vertebrate, comprising a bite plate that has optical marks which can be recognized as such in the optical image, and an X-ray marker configuration that is connected to the bite plate in a defined manner in a predetermined spatial association and has at least three X-ray marker elements which can be recognized as such in the X-ray image.
