The rail (20) has an open holder directly receiving and holding a light conductor in a position. The open holder is formed in elongated shape extending along a surface line parallel to a body of the rail. The open holder is formed in a region of the rail. The open holder comprises an access opening for insertion or removal of the light conductor parallel to the surface line of the open holder. The open holder comprises a lateral opening in longitudinal direction for scattering light radiation provided by the light conductor. An independent claim is also included for an illumination device comprising a guide rail.
