摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll bearing method capable of exhibiting excellent characteristics of a rolling bearing and a static pressure bearing, namely, capable of exhibiting excellent characteristics of the rolling bearing in a load and rigidity, and capable of exhibiting characteristics of the static pressure bearing as a roll bearing excellent in accuracy in the axial direction. <P>SOLUTION: In this roll bearing method, the static pressure bearing and the rolling bearing are fitted in this order, in series to each other, to shafts provided in both ends in the axial direction of a roll in order from a center side in the axial direction of the roll to rotatably support the roll. Alternatively, the rolling bearing and the static pressure bearing are fitted in this order, in series to each other, to the shafts in both ends in the width direction of the roll in order from the center side in the width direction of the roll to rotatably support the roll. As the static pressure bearing, a pneumatic static pressure bearing is used.
