Disclosed is a gesture recognition device (200) wherein a display device (101) is controlled on the basis of a gesture operation by a user positioned near a screen (101a), wherein the device is provided with an image acquisition unit (201) which acquires an image which captures the proximity of the screen (101a), a direction determination unit (204) which determines an operation direction which is a direction of a movement which should be recognized as a gesture operation on the basis of the position information indicating the direction of the user from the screen (101a) or the image acquisition unit (201), a gesture recognition unit (205) which recognizes the movement of the determined operation direction as a gesture operation using the acquired image wherein the movement may be a movement of a part or the entirety of the user's body, and a display control unit (206) which controls a display device (101) on the basis of the recognized gesture operation. |
