<p>The present invention relates to the use as an antimicrobial of tamarind seed polysaccharide (TSP) and to antimicrobial compositions which contain it as active ingredient. Antimicrobial compositions containing TSP are particularly useful for topical administration in the treatment and/or prevention of microbial infections of the skin and mucosa.</p>
