Catalyst comprises a catalyst support (1), which is a sheet with a thickness of not > 1 mm. The sheet is provided with openings (2), which amounts to at least 30% of the sheet surface. An aluminum-alloy stainless steel with aluminum content of 3-6% is used as a material for the catalyst support. An aluminum oxide layer (3) of at least 20 mu thickness is produced on the sheet by long term calcination in air.
