PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical-type washing machine in which ozone used for sterilization and deodorization is prevented from leaking.

SOLUTION: A washing machine includes: a washing water tub 3 in which an inner tub 5 is provided in a rotatable manner in an outer tank 4 provided in a housing; a cover plate 11 that forms a laundry entrance in the washing water tub 3 and covers the outer tank 4; a water supply unit for supplying liquid to the washing water tub 3; a blower unit for supplying gas to the washing water tub 3; and an ozone generator for mixing ozone with at least one of the liquid and the gas supplied into the washing water tub 3. On an outer wall of the outer tank 4 at least one bottomed case 61 having a hollow air duct 62 inside is formed along a vertical direction of the outer tank 4; on an outer surface of the case 61 at least one ventilation hole 65 that leads to the air duct is provided; on the cover plate 11 a groove 11a that communicates with the air duct 62 is formed; and a catalyst 66 capable of decomposing the ozone is arranged in the air duct 62 between the groove 11a and the ventilation hole 65.
